        Private Sessions

      • Functional Integration

Functional Integration private one-on-one lessons where the teacher guides a student in movement lessons using gentle touch as the main way of communication.

The lesson usually begins with the student relating her or his intention or needs. Some may have movement difficulties or desires to do a certain movements, e.g. getting up from the floor with ease.

Each lesson is customised to the unique circumstances of the student. The student may be asked to walk, sit, stand or lay on a table designed for the Feldenkrais work, and do certain simple movements. Movements are slow and students are reminded to do the movements with ease. The teacher may also use props as needed.

The teacher's touch and directions aims to reflect to the student what he or she is doing in a movement and how the body organises itself.

Through gentle touch and movement, the teacher creates a safe and comfortable learning environment and supports the possible expansion of possibilites for new movement patterns to be created.

These new movement patterns create new neuro pathways and connections in the brain and support the student in developing a clearer sense of self and expanded potential in movement and thought.
